Sirsasana (The Headstand) By Charles Levenstein Decapitaphobia: fear of snapping off one's head like the end of a stringbean. Also bars the somersault, even imagining the headstand. Perhaps I can sneak up on it, walk in backwards, roll to my shoulders and stay there, belly threatening to engulf head. Nevertheless, I am proud of this ungracious pose, even though not sirsasana. I would go further and do the plow but am hampered by tightly wound hamstrings. In any case backwards is not forwards. No longer a stringbean, must practice courage. |
