Program Description: This nearly 5 year old Wednesday Night Poetry Series is
now hosted 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the above gallery. A poetry open
mike, followed by featured poet(s), and then a poetry workshop (reading and
feedback session - bring copies to share). This is a very funky art space
below The Greenwood Restaurant. This is an UNRESTRICTED VENUE.
Costs: $1 suggested donation on regular nights. At the price may vary
depending on who is featured, if so it will be noted in the calendar.

Program Description: Connecticut's longest running continuing Open Mic
Poetry Series (Since July 12th 1994). Rotating hosts for the series are
Cynthia Peck, Colin Haskins, Dan Collin, Dennis Chase, and Victoria Rivas.
All poetry readings start at 8:30 p.m. Informal setting. Funky place.
Great venue for 'first time out" readers and seasoned pros alike.
Open 7 days a week 'till 1 a.m.

NAME: Klekolo World Coffee (The Other)

Program Description: This location holds a slam on the 1st Sunday of every
month at 2 p.m.
Notes: This location just opened in January of 1999. It is huge compared
to the Court St. location. Space is available for reading and writing groups
who might be looking for a place to meet. Contact Hollie at Klekolo@aol.com
and put "Main StMarket" in the subject line of your email. This location is
open M,T,W 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Th,F,Sat 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the first Sunday
of every month from 10 a.m. till slam is over. It's Only Natural
Restaurant, across the hall, is open on the same Sunday as the slam every
month for vegan brunches (yum).
Notes: For the record: Klekolo is pronounced Clay-ko-lo. It is an African
word of the Minnianka language in the country of Mali.
Roughly translated Klekolo means: 'A system of rules to live by for peace
and harmony in the World.'

NAME: Laszlo's Arts Café

restrictions on content.

NAME: The Hill-Stead Museum's Sunken Garden Poetry Festival
Address: 35 Mountain Rd., Farmington, CT - Exit 39 off I-84, straight to
the second full traffic light, left on Main St./Route 10, and left at the
next light (Mt. Rd.). The Museum is 1/4 mile up Mt. Rd. In case of rain,
Bloomfield High School, 5 Huckleberry Lane, off Park Ave. (Route 178) in
Bloomfield, about 3/4 of a mile from the center of town.

Program Description: . An hour of music/dance starts at 6:30 p.m. followed
by an hour of poetry at 7:30 p.m. Afterwards is a book-signing. The
Festival readings occur every other Wednesday evening (same time) June
through August. Seminars on each of the poets occur on alternate Wednesdays
in the Make-Shift Theater at the Hill-Stead Museum, 7 p.m. - Come early and
bring a blanket or lawn chair. Dinners served from 5:30 p.m. (no picnics),
and half-price tours of the Museum from 5 p.m.
Costs: Parking on the museum property is $3.
