The Winter 1998 Authors

Dave Bothwell is a businessman from Aberdeen in the UK. Mr. Bothwell has been writing for the past thirty years and was most recently Runner-Up in the UK Transatlantic Critique Club literary contest. This is Mr. Bothwell's first publication.

Nora Currandera is a researcher in cultural anthropology from Farmington, Connecticut. She has been writing for about ten years and has previously published a chapbook of poetry with Toth Press. Ms. Currandera quotes Jack Kerouac in saying "and all talk should hurt me so."

E. Doyle-Gillespie is a teacher from Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Gillespie has been writing for longer than he can remember and has published work in the Poetry Motel, The Unknown Writer, The Pearl, and The Barnes and Noble Literary Magazine, among others. He has won a number of recent awards, including Honorary Mention in the UK Transatlantic Critique Club literary contest, and the International Merit Award for The Atlanta Review.

Gordon Edwards is a businessman from Stamford, Connecticut and past contributor to The Fairfield Review. Mr. Edwards has been writing poetry for the past thirty years, and was most recently a runner up in both the 1994 Poet magazine's annual American Chapbook contest, and the 1996 Stamford Ferguson Library Literary Competition. He began writing poetry in the eighth grade, at the encouragement of a junior high school English teacher. Mr. Edwards writes, "It is the incarnation of grace in the simplicity of ordinary language and experience, the 'Word ... dwelt among us,' that drives my writing."

Penelope Greenwell is a registered nurse from Lexington, Kentucky. Ms. Greenwell has been writing for "most of her life," but more recently concentrating on poetry. She has published work in the Free Zone Quarterly, Fear.Com, and designhouse. She recently won Anthem's Erotic Poetry contest.

Halsted is a poet and writer from Fairfield, Connecticut and past contributor to The Fairfield Review. Ms. Halsted has been writing poetry for the past twenty five years and has published work for the National Council of Churches, in college literary magazines, and Randolph-Macon Literary Magazine, where she was poetry editor. She is a member of the Writers Workshop, Westport Poetry Workshop, and Fairfield Poets.

John Jennings is a financial analyst from Bedford, Texas and past contributor to The Fairfield Review. Mr. Jennings has been writing essays and stories for the past six years and has published in Image Magazine and Power for Today. He is a former member of the Writer's Voice in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Curtis Johnson is a senior planner from Naugatuck, Connecticut. Mr. Johnson has been writing since the age of sixteen and has published in the Connecticut Post, Conscious Living, and VMOJA News. He recently won the Black Artist Award, Kwanza Productions. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Fairfield Poets.

Christopher Reitmaier is a designer and photographer from Las Vegas, Nevada. He has been "writing seriously" for the past year. This is his second publication. Mr. Reitmaier writes that he began writing "watching my former wife sleep."

Jerry Strong is a semi-retired biochemist from Stilwell, Kansas. He has been writing "with serious intent" for the past thirty years. He has recently published in Anthem, Recursive Angel, and the Soho Virtual Art Gallery. Mr. Strong writes, "Writing came to me; I did not come to it. I have no other real option than to write..."
