Snowfall

The irony
of snow
on a weekend
deep in Lent
germinates--
pure,
white,
light as the
air on which
the festive flakes
pirouette
and fall--
there is
a gravity
that has the
smell of earth
freshly turned
broken
after a long
deep winter,
after a long
deep winter
life.
