A Teddy Bear Named Groovy
by Kate Stones

My pants go down
To the ground
--I don't have a teddy!
All my clothes are only rags,
My voice is bored,
I'm tattered, battered, and torn.
Everything on me sags.
--Me? A teddy?
Got to be rad
Da bomb and cool,
Schmooth and PHAT,
In with the crowd
When I'm at school.
--So I can't have a teddy!
But when the day ends
We trudge home
Noting the latest trends.
Though the house is empty,
We're not alone
'Cuz now we hug our teddies.
But we're still cool.
